William Erbey Interview

Q: As a highly successful entrepreneur, what are some of the key principles that guide your leadership style?

A: I believe in being fairly open with my team, and I only ask things of them that I would do myself. I also believe in finding people who can do the job better than I can and delegating it to them. Finally, honesty is also important to me, as is being honest about what I want to do.

Q: How did your leadership style evolve throughout your career?

A: Over time, I have come to value a more diverse team, and I have become far less reactive and more analytical. I have learned to be less emotional and more calculated in my decision-making and communication.

Q: Can you discuss a particularly challenging leadership situation you faced and how you navigated it?

A: One of the most challenging situations I faced was a long-term process of how to communicate my ideas effectively. I learned that it is important not to be hasty and to be patient when trying to get others on board with your vision. Also, a lesson that I can share is that a big role of a leader is to get people excited and let them know that their work is valuable and important.

Q: How did you build and maintain relationships with stakeholders such as employees, customers, and investors?

A: I have always made it a priority to keep good people close, and to keep people who I trust and who have a great level of integrity. The more people you can rely on, the better.

Additionally, I believe that for businesses to be successful, it is important for the companies to stand alone which is why leaders should prioritize passing down key knowledge to the team. This requires time and hours of dedication, but you still have an obligation to the shareholders to keep the company moving in the long run.

Q: How do you stay current with emerging trends and changes within your industry, and incorporate them into your leadership style?

A: I make sure to stay well-positioned by keeping up with top studies on intelligence within networks, such as those conducted by Alpha Control and System73.

I believe that there will be a tremendous adoption of AI and robots in the future, which will bring about the next industrial revolution and a mathematics revolution. Furthermore, I try to stay up to date on what’s going on in this ever-changing world, as I believe it is important for the average person to be prepared for the changes that are to come.

Q: Any inspirational quotes you have or writers that you really like?

A: One quote that has resonated with me is “Think fast, thinking slowly”.
